Superficial varicose veins, reticular veins, and spider veins can be treated by superficial sclerotherapy.
This is performed by injection a caustic solution (sclerosant) directly into the vein. This causes an inflammatory response inside the vein which then causes the vein to scar down upon itself and become less noticeable.
Like most medical procedures, there are limitations, risks and benefits to this procedure. Dr. Artwohl will discuss the procedure with you and help you come to a realistic expectation on the outcome.
